The Malala Foundation was founded in 2013 by Malala Yousufzai. Malala, a Pakistani, was seriously injured at age 15 when she was shot in the head on her bus to school by an Islamic extremist who was hostile to girls' education. We started this charity exhibition because we were strongly shocked by this shooting incident, in which the shooter considered getting an education an evil and tried to shoot a girl to death. For this radical man, did he dream of a society where schools are for boys to learn?
There are still more than 100 million children in the world who cannot attend school, and women in particular are discriminated against and deprived of the opportunity to receive education. It is a long way to go, but if we are to realize a society without discrimination, we would like to start from this area steadily.I hope art can be of some help. Is such a thing a dream ?
At the talk event on Friday, December 6th, we will invite staff from NIJIIRO DIVERSITY, a certified NPO that aims to create a society where sexual minorities, such as LGBTQ, can live comfortably, to talk about their dreams and the activities they are doing to change society.
