TANAKA Hiroyuki
People hear, speak, read, and write words. They then use words to assemble their own ideas. However, once the word leaves the person, it becomes a thing with the sound and the shape, it becomes a medium which exists between the taker, and all the interpretations will be entrusted to the taker. As a result, words sometimes disobey people's thoughts, but on the other hand they can bring unexpectedly wonderful results. Words have an undying indestructibleness. Whose words left his possession, sleep on the pages of closed books, wake up on open pages and repeat metamorphosis in people's brains.
1960 Born in Shiga<p class="bio-en">
1982 Graduated from Shiga University
I started with painting, and then became interested in the unique materiality of "sound" and "form"of "words" and "letters", and since the mid-1990s I have been making objects and installations using old books as materials.

GUP-py(aka Yoko Hata)
Founded in Berlin in 1995. Works mainly in Germany and Japan. The minimalistic fantasy world of GUP-py is made through minimally shifting the view onto oneself and one’s surroundings. It is visualized via diverse forms of media, such as graphics, photography, video, installation and the artists’ book. Some of their main works are: animated Japanese onomatopoeic words living in honey „Honey Creatures“ and „Mellarium“, an invisible dog which evokes the travel desires of the dog’s owner „Travel Dog (series)“, flying books „Book's Dream to Fly“, etc.
